THE HEART OF THE CITY

Several generations ago, humanity discovered a colossal living organism buried deep beneath the earth. This being—later known as the Heart—maintained the balance of the land through an endless cycle of life and death. What began as a research site slowly expanded into a vast urban complex, known as Ciudad Gris.

At first, humanity studied it. Eventually, they exploited it, until the Heart was pushed beyond its limits. As it began to fail, researchers committed unthinkable acts in a desperate attempt to save it. Their experiments only accelerated its decay, igniting fear, unrest, and finally, a conflict known as "The War of the Heart"

PALOMA'S HOUSE

Like many orphans during the war, Paloma was forced to live underground in order to avoid the giants of the surface. Over time, she turned an abandoned subway wagon into a place to live. Scavenging whatever she can from the old world, she's now surrounded by nature, her note-books, and auritas who keep her company.

MURALS

These murals, created during the War by Paloma's mother, store her memories at the moment of their creation. After taking refuge in the underground, Paloma has explored the outkirts of the city, searching for these drawings, trying to find clues about her mother's location. Although her progress is slow, these mural will guide her to the biggest clue of them all.

When the conflict reached its peak, the Heart activated a final failsafe:

The Great Sleep.

The grand mayority of the population fell into an eternal slumber. Only the youngest resisted it—if only for a time.

Above ground, the ruins are haunted by remnants of the past—mechanical giants, abandoned machines, and the scars of a civilization that refused to let go. Below, the surviving children take refuge in the subway tunnels and forgotten stations, forming fragile communities beneath the surface.

Now, the Heart is slowly dying. Its pulse weakens beneath the city, its roots spreading like veins through concrete and asphalt. Yet within those roots, within its blood, memories are stored… and perhaps a final chance at salvation. This is where Arcagen begins.

HUMANITAS - THE GIANTS

Humanitas is a ruthless military faction - remnants of the old world’s central government. What remains of its army is now mostly mechanical giants—towering enforcers built to impose order at any cost.

Their goal is to save humanity by replacing the dying Heart of the City with an artificial one. To keep it alive, they harvest survivors and use them as living batteries, buying time through cruelty and control.

To the children hiding beneath the streets, Humanitas is known simply as the Giants—unstoppable figures of metal and fear, marching through the ruins to claim what little human life the city has left.
